Practical Digital Imaging Seminars & Classes

with Les Walkling

The Lab X evening, and new one-day courses present a unique opportunity to train and learn in a professional studio and laboratory environment. They are designed for photographers, artists, assistants, designers, technicians and production managers.

RETOUCHING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS
This seminar highlights an important workflow distinction between the processing of digital captures and the post processing of digital images. Both phases of the workflow have different aims and objectives, and require different skills and techniques. While processing is scene referred, retouching is output referred. What this means, and the stages, processes and tools involved in professional image editing, are illustrated through real world case studies, where the editing outcomes focus on a creative interpretation of the subject.

Evening seminars - Wednesday 24 June

Full fee:                                   $125.00

Trampoline / Student:              $95.00

Session Times:  6.45pm to 10.00pm Wednesday

FROM CAPTURE TO PRINT
This seminar provides a practical overview of working successfully with labs, designers, printers and pre press services, and the often confusing and conflicting options involved in preparing images for printing. Both RGB and CMYK print processes are discussed, including magazine, sheet fed, inkjet and digital-photographic outputs, with an emphasis on preserving image integrity across the different media. Fundamental production concepts such as the relationship between an image and its output gamut are covered in detail.
